After a brief lesson on the characteristics of animal teeth and their function, the kids will discover how the different teeth aid in the animals’ survival and are adapted to their particular diet. A discussion of herbivore, carnivore and omnivore will help the kids understand that an animals’ diet is reflected in the types of teeth they have. The children will then learn the basic principles behind using a dichotomous key on some familiar evergreen trees, then put these skills to work to identify 7 common animal skulls. This program is appropriate for students in grade 3 and up.
